The Lost Coast Rotaract completes several community service projects every year. Below are just a few of the ongoing projects we work on:
Backpacks for Kids is a program run through Food for People which provides income-eligible children with a bag of kid-friendly food on Fridays during the school year. Lost Coast Rotaract has been a supporter of Backpacks for Kids since 2010. In addition to financial support, the Lost Coast Rotaract, in partnership with the local blood bank, packs bags filled with nutritious food that is delivered to Pine Hill School in Eureka each week during the school year.
PacOut Green Team Cleanups are weekly beach clean up run by Pacific Outfitters where volunteers meet up for 60 minute cleanups at locations around the Humboldt County in order to to remove as much litter as possible. Lost Coast Rotaract is not only an official PacOut Green Team sponsor, we regularly attend the beach cleanups in an effort to clean up our local beaches. Lost Cost Rotaract sponsored cleanups are the 3rd Saturday of every odd month at Samoa Beach. We meet at 8:45 AM, at the Samoa Beach pull out next to power polls. Come on out and join us for a cleanup!
Toys for Tots is a the national program that distributes new toys to children in need during Christmas. Since 2010 Lost Coast Rotaract has volunteers to collect toy donations at the Costco location every weekend from Black Friday until Christmas.
